Meet The Doctors

There’s really nothing like a breath of fresh air and a good night’s sleep. Deprived of either, a person’s daily functions, health and quality of life can quickly deteriorate. At Tennessee Comprehensive Lung and Sleep Center, Dr. Clyde Southwell has made it his mission to help Sumner County rest and breathe easier.
“Whether it’s shortness of breath, coughing, or wheezing we can help!” says Dr. Southwell. TCLS is able to diagnose and treat a wide variety of pulmonary disorders such as asthma, emphysema, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary artery hypertension. Our in-office evaluation includes pulmonary function testing as well as cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET).
Dr. Southwell passionate about sleep disorders and is the Director of the sleep facility at Tennessee Comprehensive Lung and Sleep Center where a number of sleep problems are diagnosed. Dr. Southwell feels that you may benefit from a sleep evaluation if you have any of the following symptoms: tiredness or sleepiness during the day, snoring, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. “We are excited to offer these services here in Sumner and surrounding counties,” he says.
Dr. Southwell says, “Our mission is to CARE which includesComprehensive and consistent care, Availability, establishing Relationships of trust and mutual respect and Excellence in everything we do.” TCLS strives to care for every patient as they would their own families, not merely treating symptoms but getting to the heart of the problem.
Dr. Southwell is board certified in Pulmonary, Critical care, Sleep and Internal medicine. He was trained at a Case Western University Program in Cleveland Ohio but more recently move here from a multi-specialty practice in North Carolina. “I was introduced to the Sumner County area by a friend and colleague from training.
